SCION PRESENTS: FAIRYTALE OF BERLIN

Los Angeles – December 2008 – Fairytale of Berlin, curated by Janine Bean and Matthias Bergemann from Janine Bean Gallery in Berlin, opens on January 17 at Scion’s 4,500 square foot Installation L.A. Gallery in Culver City. The exhibition explores the legend of creative life within Berlin’s sub-cultural niches. Berlin attracts artists with its substantial network—affordable apartments and studios, along with private and public international institutions eager to support artists of all backgrounds. The city’s creative utopia, with its solid infrastructure as well as a stirring subculture, attracts artists from all over the world, and has become more than a myth. The show will look at the consequences, both good and bad, of what happens when aspiration and reality collide in this setting.

Vans And Altamont Present: Neck Face’s Cannibal Carnival

On August 16, LA’s New Image Art Gallery welcomes the crimson gore of Neck Face’s newest works. Cannibal Carnival follows the artists interest in horror. So blood drenched that it has garnered an NC-17 rating!
The exhibition will launch with an opening reception from 7-10pm on the 16th, and the carnival will roll on until the 20th of September.
